A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Will and Althea Ledford Scott and wife of 70 years to Clyde Banks, who died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Juanita Moore; and sisters, Emma Blankenship, Lizzie Banks, Vernia Banks, Rena Blankenship and Viola Buckner.
She was survived by her son, Luther B. and wife, Ruth Banks, of Burnsville; five grandchildren, Allan Moore, Jeff Banks, Lisa Gragg, Lori Franklin and Jennifer Reeves; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Carrie Ledford of Burnsville.
The funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2005 in the chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. The Revs. Burl Ledford, Jerry Shelton and Rick Bennett officiated. Burial was in Scott Cemetery.
