Josephine Alveraz passed away peacefully in her home of 55 years on August 16, 2008. Jo was born in Santa Cruz on July 30, 1917. She celebrated her 91st birthday with family and friends. Josephine Louise Brockman married Theodore Alveraz in 1942. They were together until Ted's death in 2002. They were Holy Cross School mates. Jo attended Delano High School and Fresno Business College. She was a member of Santa Cruz Emblem Club, Elks Club, Mended Hearts and Pasatiempo Golf Club.
Jo is survived by her 99 year old brother William Brockman and his children, Marion Vickers, Diane, Michael and Kelly; John Brockman and his children, Carl and Keith; and Sharlene and John Mandella of Santa Cruz and their sons John and Mark.
A Memorial Mass will be held at San Agustin Catholic Church, 257 Glenwood Dr, Scotts Valley, CA 95066, on Friday August 22, 2008 beginning at 10 o'clock a.m. Consider a contribution to Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Drive, Scotts Valley, CA 95066. Arrangements are under the direction of Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel.
