Graveside services for Avis Beatty Smith will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Fellowship Cemetery in Dubberly, Louisiana under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana with Rev. Bill Crider officiating.

Avis was born March 19, 1925 in Heflin, Louisiana, and went to her heavenly home on February 26, 2021. She was an avid gardener of both vegetables and flowers and loved to cook. She shared the bounty of her garden with her family and friends, and everyone, at least once or many times, was the recipient of one of her fresh baked pecan pies or a warm chocolate chip pound cake.

Avis was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Minnie Beatty; her husband, Vernon Smith; sister, Maxine Merritt and brothers, Earl Beatty, Harold Beatty, and Aubrey Beatty.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Jo Ann White (Edward); her sons, Gary Smith (Sandra) and Don Smith. Grandchildren, Phillip Smith (Maricel) and Kitty Currie (John). Great grandchildren, Britini Smith; Emily Humphreys (Luke); Jessica Korthauer (Ryan) and Matthew Currie. Great great grandchildren, Emma and Hank Humphreys, and many precious nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the 2nd floor nurses at Minden Medical Center for their excellent short- term care. To the nurses, CNAs and staff of Meadowview Nursing and Rehab Center, we extend our greatest appreciation and love for the kindness and tender, loving care given to “our girl”.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Currie, Curtis Merritt, Bruce Beatty, Bill Beatty, Hewitt White, and Mike Holomon.
