His parents, Rex and DeEtte Wood, moved to Kirkland when Nathan was seven. He graduated from Juanita High School in 2003. During his senior year, Nathan joined the Marines with several close friends after finishing high school, hoping to obtain college benefits and to challenge himself. He was deployed to Iraq during the summer of 2004. Nathan served with the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force from Camp Pendleton, California. For his dedicated service he was recently promoted to Lance Corporal. Nathan was killed in action November 9th during the recent military operations in Fallujah.
