Funeral services for Walter Roy Aswell, age 84, of Choudrant, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Choudrant. Officiating the service will be Rev. David Harrell. Interment will follow at Choudrant Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mr. Aswell was born January 24, 1929 and passed away March 16, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his son: Walter Roy Aswell, Jr.; and his parents: Walter L. Aswell and Jewell Wade Aswell. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Choudrant. Mr. Aswell served in the United States Army and was employed by Illinois Central Railroad.
Mr. Aswell is survived by his wife: Sybil N. Aswell of Choudrant, LA; son: Larry Aswell of Raymond, MS; grandson: Walter R. Aswell III of Mandeville, LA; granddaughter: Sara Kate Aswell also of Mandeville, LA; sisters: Barbara Jean Parnell of Houston, TX, Betty Adams and husband Don of Winnsboro, LA and Beverly Aswell of Ruston, LA; brothers: Ragan Aswell and wife Mary of Choudrant, LA, and Wayne Aswell and wife Cathy of Choudrant, LA; sister-in-law: Jane Smith of Midland TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steve Moore, Matt David, Jamie Justice, Jacob Aswell, Bobby Milner and Clinton Hammons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don Adams, James Folmar and John O'Neal.
