Ellis Morrow Woods
MINDEN-Ellis Morrow Woods, 77, died Thursday in his home at 508 Ferguson of a sudden illness.
He was born in Doyline and lived in Webster Parish all his life. For 45 years he worked in the grocery business, most recently with Piggly Wiggly, before his retirement.
Woods was a deacon in the First Baptist Church from 1929 until his death and was secretary of his Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rose-Neath chapel with Rev. Dr. Ronald Prince officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery in Homer.
Survivors are a son, Jones William Woods of St. Louis, Missouri; a daughter, Mrs. James H. Ponder of Shreveport; a brother Don F. Wood of Long Beach, California; three sisters, Mrs. James Risinger of Lufkin, Texas, Mrs. J. Edwards of Long Beach, California, and Mrs. Elizabeth Guinn of Austin, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
