SHELBY Mrs. Adele Hamrick Tomblin died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at home.

She was born in Rutherford County, and was the daughter of the late M.L. and Josephine Wright Hamrick.

She retired as manager of Edwards Furniture Company of Rutherfordton after 44 years of service with the firm. She was a member of Spencer Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Flaye Theodore Tomblin; four brothers, Carl, Luther, Theodore and Clyde Hamrick; and two sisters, Elizabeth Tipton and LaVinia Hamrick.

She is survived by two sons, James Tomblin and his wife, Karen, of Greenville, S.C. and Larry Bob Tomblin and his wife, Betty Jo, of Forest City; three daughters, Joan Pope of Shelby, Dianne Ross and her husband, Roger, of Shelby and Pat Arrowood and her husband, Bruce, of Greer, S.C.; a sister, Evelyn Hughes of the home; 13 grandchildren, Amy McCarthy of Charlotte, Todd Tomblin of Atlanta, Ga., Jay Arrowood and John Arrowood, both of Greer, Greg Pope of Hendersonville, Teresa Smith of Shelby, Renee Honeycutt of Forest City, Dwight Tomblin, Brian Tomblin and Keith Tomblin, all of Rutherfordton; stepgranddaughters, LaShay Martin of Gastonia, Alison Militello of Huntersville and Ashley Peterson of Greenville, S.C.; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Cleveland Memorial Park.
