Son of David Beatson and Jane A. Owen, husband of Frances Maria Parks and father of Frank and Jessie W. Beatson.

Husband of Marie Fitzer and father of Clara J. and Walter Beatson.

John was a NY Infantry Freeman, Co. I, 95th Regiment, during the Civil War, enlisting on April 20th, 1862 and discharged September 20, 1865 at Columbus, OH for disability. He worked for the George F. Cram Company on Fulton Avenue for 40 years and was a member of the Lenox Council Royal Arcamin #88, formed June 25, 1888. He was also a Mason.

On February 9th, 1915, John, aged 78, widowed, a painter, born in New York, was admitted to the U.S. National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Bath, Steuben, NY. He died on April 16, 1915. His nearest relative was shown to be T.P. Kilgore, of 63 West 123rd Street, New York, NY.

Obituary - John Beatson, a member of an Albany regiment during the Civil War and at one time connected with the New York Volunteer Fire Department, died Saturday at his home, 306 East Eighth Street, where he lived with a daughter, Mrs. Clara Smith. The Rev. Dr. Collins of St. Ann's P.E. Church conducted funeral services this afternoon at the funeral parlors of Harry F. Blair, 723 Coney Island Avenue. Burial in Evergreens Cemetery. Mr. Beatson was born in Albany seventy-eight years ago, and came to Brooklyn after the war.

Also - John Beatson, formerly a member of Company I, 95th New York Infantry, died on April 6. The remains were sent to Brooklyn.

The Estate of John Beatson - In the matter of the petition of Clara B. Smith, for Letters of Administration of the Goods, Chattels, and Credits which were of John Beatson, deceased. To the Surrogate's Court of the County of Kings, the petition of the above named petitioner alleges:

That your petitioner resides at 306 East 8th Street, in the Borough of Brooklyn, City of New York, and is a daughter of the said John Beatson, deceased, and is of full age.

That the said deceased died at the County of Steuben, on the 16th day of April, 1915, and was at or immediately previous to his death a resident of the County of Kings.

That your petitioner has made diligent search and inquiry for a will of said deceased and has not found any, or obtained any information that he left any; and therefore alleges, upon information and belief, that said deceased died without leaving any last Will and Testament.

That said deceased at the time of his death was not seized of real estate.

That the names and post office addresses of the husband or widow, and the next of kin of the deceased and their relationship, as far as they are known to your petioner or can be ascertained by her with due diligence are as follows:

Clara B. Smith, daughter, your petitioner of 306 East 8th Street, Brooklyn.
