Edwin K. "Ed" Axel, 89, Little Falls, formerly of the Randall area, died January 26, 1998, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls. Funeral services were held January 29 at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls with Rev. Martin Langemo officiating.

Edwin was born November 13, 1908, in Culdrum Township, Morrison County, to Frederick and Mary (Rahn) Axel. He grew up in Culdrum Township and attended country school. Edwin married Ella H. Petrich on October 1, 1932, in Emmanual Lutheran Church in Culdrum Township. They settled on a rented farm west of Lincoln until 1935. They returned to Culdrum Township and farmed until 1944. The couple then purchased a farm southwest of Randall and resided there until moving into Little Falls in 1955. Ed worked at Hennepin Paper Mill for 18 years, retiring in 1973. He then worked at Little Falls Granite Works for a few years. He served as the caretaker of the animals in Pine Grove Park for eight years. The couple sold their home and resided in a townhouse. Ed enjoyed gardening, fishing and taking care of his lawn. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernest, Otto, Arthur and Herbert Axel; sister, Erma Hanson and grandsons, Bryan and Gregg Axel.
