Robert Campbell Jones, son of Allen and Elizabeth (Campbell) Jones, was born June 11, 1793 (per gravestone) at Mercer County, Kentucky. He married Martha Gash on June 8, 1819, at Mercer County, Kentucky. She was born April 2, 1797 (per gravestone), daughter of Thomas and Rebecca (Dougherty) Gash.

Robert and Martha Jones moved to what is now Randolph County, Missouri (but then Howard County) in 1820, shortly after their marriage. Robert provided surety for a neighbor's bond in Howard County in 1822.

On "January 6, 1826, Thomas Gash, of Mercer County, Kentucky, for good will and tender affection for his daughter (formerly) Martha Gash but now Martha Jones, gave negro girl Lucinda, about nine years old and her increase."

Robert C. Jones and wife, Martha granted land in Randolph County, Missouri to Joseph Cunningham on February 1, 1843. (Per Randolph County Grantor Index on Mormon microfilm. Joseph, could have been a relative; Martha's mother's mother was a Cunningham.)

They sold their land in Randolph County in 1843 and moved to Davis County and settled among friendly Indians. Martha died in 1851, and Robert farmed land adjoining that of his brother Martin until he retired in 1860.

Martha died March 14, 1851 (per gravestone) and is buried at the Runkle Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa, together with Robert, who died August 14, 1863 (per gravestone).
