John worked the farm land as a boy and he continued to be a farmer as an adult.
John married Laura May Cooper (b. 1881) in 1901 in Muskego, Wis. They had four children but only three survived infancy: Elroy Joseph (b. Mar 1902, d. Dec 1902), Frances Catherine (b. Oct 1903), Marie Lorraine (b. Feb 1906), and Harold Edwin (b. Jan 1917).
The family lived in Raymond in Racine County until 1907. Next they lived in Norway in Racine County. Around 1914 the family moved to Waukesha County. Finally, around 1918, the family settled in West Allis in Milwaukee County. John worked as a motorman/brakeman on electric cable cars after this move.
Coincidently, both he and his wife had fathers born in 1852. Laura's father died in 1913; John's in 1918.
John and Laura celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1951.
John died at age 75 in 1953. He was survived by his wife and his three children, Mrs. Frances (Leonard) Verick, Mrs. Marie (Horace) Woodward and Harold (Fern) Acker. Further survived by two grandsons and two granddaughters born between 1929 and 1934. Also, by one great-granddaughter born in 1952.
