Edward H. Fey
Died- March 14, 2013
Edward H. Fey, 79, of 483 Hill Road, Hegins, passed away Thursday morning at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born in Weishample, Barry Township, June 5, 1933, he was a son of the late Alfred C. and Gertrude Mae Klinger Fey.
He attended the former Hegins Township High School and was employed as a coal miner, having owned his own coal company, later working for the former Neumeister Coal Co., Ashland, and retiring from CLS Coal Co., Minersville, where he was a driller.
Ed was also a farmer in the Hegins Valley and was well-known for visiting others living in the area. In the fall, Ed enjoyed deer hunting with his friends. He attended Salem United Methodist Church, Weishample.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Alfred; a sister, Loretta Bixler; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Faust.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Marie Mattern Fey; daughters, Melinda, wife of Ronald Spencer, Ashland, and Judy, wife of Lew Schappe, Minersville; a sister, Shirley Buffington, Lykens; brothers, Thomas and his wife, Audrey, Wyomissing Hills, and Raymond and his wife, Susan, Weishample; a granddaughter, Abby Schappe, Minersville; nieces and nephews
A private graveside funeral service will be held in Church of God Cemetery, Weishample. Memorials may be made to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Hillside Road, Pottsville, PA 17901. Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements.
