Brent J Webb, 56, of Corvallis passed away on March 4, 2013, at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa.

Brent was born May 18, 1956, in North Bend. He grew up in Corvallis, graduating from Crescent Valley High School in 1974. He attended Oregon State University, achieving his Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering in 1979 and Master of Science degree in nuclear engineering/system design in 1988. His military career included LT USNR, Engineering Duty Officer, Surface Ship and Submarine Repair.

One of his mentors described Brent as "brilliant beyond most of his colleagues' understanding; describing his talents as an out-of-the-box thinker is a supreme understatement. Brent exemplified an everlasting passion to deliver engineering solutions that were both practical and ultimately very useful to the nuclear industry. Brent dearly loved his field and much of his successes in engineering were due to a combination of his integrity and perseverance in defining solutions to the problems at hand."

Brent's achievements were many, including five U.S. patents and scores of publications. His commitment to lifelong learning and his advocacy for education were admirable. The achievement that brought Brent the most pride was his family. He was totally devoted to his wife and children. The kryptonite to this Superman was his granddaughter Tessa.

Brent is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Webb; his children, Stephanie Webb, Nathan Webb and Zachary Webb of Corvallis, and Katy and Cyol Paglia and granddaughter Tessa, all of Albany; his mother, Billee Webb of Corvallis; two sisters; three brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

Brent was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Webb, and by his father, Lonnie Webb.
