"CAR ACCIDENT
John F. Hurley, 42, of 39 Millbury St., Grafton, a route supervisor for a Worcester baking company, was killed early yesterday morning in an automobile accident on Route 122 in North Grafton.
His car skidded and struck a tree on Worcester Street just north of Wheeler Road shortly after midnight. He was pronounced dead at St. Vincent Hospital.
COMING FROM PARTY
Mr. Hurley, who had been employed by the Ward Baking Co. for the last 10 years, was returning home from the company's annual Christmas party in Worcester and was only a few miles from home, his wife said.
He was born in Worcester, a son of the late John and Lena Hurley, and moved to Grafton 15 years ago.
He was in the Army for five years and served as a staff sergeant in the Medical Corps. He had been stationed in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Hurley was a member and past commander of the J. Edward Goulet Post 357, American Legion in Grafton.
LEAVES 3 SONS
He leaves his wife, Florence R (Bouvier) Obara Hurley; a step-daughter Gail, wife of Victor Rutana of Millbury; three sons, Charles, John and Michael Hurley, all at home; a brother James Hurley of Shrewsbury, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Osborne of Toledo, Ohio and two grandchildren.
A military service will be conducted at 8 tonight under the auspices of J. Edward Goulet Post, A.L.
The funeral will be held Friday morning from the Turgeon Funeral Home, Main St., Grafton with a High Mass at 9 in St. Philip's Church, Grafton. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are today, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today."
