Manly Beck was the son of prominent Collin County, Texas landowners Sanford Beck and Matilda Rountree Beck. He married Frances Louisa Fitzhugh of Missouri in Collin County in 1856. Together they had four children, John W. 1853, Gabriel S. 1855, Lucetta S. 1857 and George M. Beck 1859.
By 1861, Manley had become a successful farmer, but along with many young men in the county, he joined the Confederate States Army to fight for secession. In 1862, he returned home to his family farm near Murphy, Texas and died from wounds suffered during the war at the age of 32.
Frances latter married Voltier Rountree in 1865 and they raised her four children with Manley Beck and three children of their own - Ida Elizabeth Rountree Coffey 1867-1937, Ada S. Rountree 1867-1882 and Dudley Rountree 1869-1923. Bio: Allen Rountree FG 47072491
