Alvin Oral Walker was born to Charles and Edith Walker three miles north of Centerville, Iowa. He attended schools and grew to manhood in and around Centerville. At the age of 17 he began a Railroad career by starting in the shops of the C.B. & Q at Centerville and worked his way to a Railroad Engineer. He was a member of the Christian Church at Cincinnati, Iowa. He was also a member of The Brotherhood of Rail Road Firemen and Engineeermen Lodge No. 531.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Marquite (Baker) Walker; mother, Ruth Edith Campbell Walker; four brothers, Laurence W. Walker of Elko, NV, Howard of Carona, CA, Thomas of Numa, IA and Campbell of Milwaukee, WI; three sisters, Mary Jones and Pearl Snelling of Sunnyvale, CA, Minnie Newman of Rockford, IL; and grandmother, Minnie Cinneretta (Staley) Campbell of Centerville, IA. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Cyrus Walker.
