Archibald McSparran married Margaret Scott. Archie and Margaret McSparran had seven children, all born in Ireland, who came to America at different times before 1845. Their children were Archibald, Jr. (1813-1894); James William (1816-1874); Priscilla (1819-1904); John (1822-1858); Mary Jane (1825-1896); Joseph (1828-1871); and Hadassah (1833-1920).
Archie and Margaret and their youngest daughter, Hadassah, age 12, arrived Oct. 28, 1845 in New York, New York from Liverpool, England on the ship named May Flower.
Archie and Margaret McSparran settled on farm land near Frankstown, Blair County, Pennsylvania. Margaret, Archie, Jr., John, Priscilla and Hadassah were there in 1850. Sons James William and Joseph were in Marshall County, Illinois in 1850.
Archibald McSparran, Sr. died September 20, 1849 on his Blair County, Pa. farm. A memorial stone with his name and wife, Margaret's name, is in Minonk Township Cemetery, Minonk, Illinois. Archibald McSparran, Sr. brought his family to America in 1845, but lived only four years after he arrived.
