He was the son of Earl and Reatha (Todd) Abbott. On Apr 3, 1948, he married JoAnn I. Zernhel, who survives in Leipsic.

Also surviving is a brother, Wilbur, Leipsic.

Deceased are a brother, Kenneth; and three sisters: Inez Bixler, Katherine Burbank and Erma Jean Niese.

He was owner of John Deere Leipsic Farm Supply, Leipsic. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Battle of the Bulge, Battle of the Breakthrough in Hurtgen Forest in Western Germany. He was a member of St. Paul's United EUB, Deshler.

A funeral service will be at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic, with Kathie Tomazic officiating.
