Margaret T. White, 80, of LaBar Village, Stroudsburg, died on Wednesday at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Francis M. White of Stroudsburg, who was an Emeritus Professor at the former Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, and currently the University of Science of Philadelphia. The couple celebrated 57 years of marriage on June 21, 1998.
Born in Lafayette, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Hazel (Geiseman) Timberlake. She was a resident of Monroe County for the past 10 years. Prior to that, the couple resided in Newfoundland, Pa., for 5 years, and the Philadelphia area for 42 years.
Margaret received her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Penn in 1954. She also received a Bachelors Degree in Science from Purdue University in 1939.
She was a member of the Golden Kiwanis Club of Stroudsburg and LaBar Village. She enjoyed teaching and playing the game of Mah Jong in LaBar Village, Stroudsburg.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, John White of Darby, Pa.; 4 daughters, Margaret W. Kinloch of Ellicott City, Md., Katherine W. Heuck of Laurel, Md., Patricia W. Skean of Glen Mills, Pa., and Susan W. Pasker of Schuylkill Haven, Pa.; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 3 p.m. to the time of the services at Lanterman & Allen. Cremation will take place in the Arlington Crematory, Whitehall.
At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kiwanis IDD Fund in care of the Golden Kiwanis Club at LaBar Village, Stroudsburg.
