He grew up in Charlotte and graduated from Charlotte High School where he played the trombone in the band.
Arthur worked as a building supervisor in the Ann Arbor area and later formed his own construction company, Art Starr and Co.
To Arthur, each of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews were "ALL" his favorite. Hard as the kids tried to get him to say it, he would never tell any one of them they were his favorite. He always said "I HAVE NO FAVORITES". And they all knew they were very loved.
Arthur loved hunting and fishing with his son, brothers and nephews. He always looked forward to deer season at his brother''s farm and the fishing trips on Whitmore Lake.
Arthur is survived by his wife Gail, 3 daughters - Deborah Sue (Cal) Garrett of Jasper, GA, Cynthia Marie (L. Scott) Belville of Wayne, MI, and Tamara Lea Starr (Tom) Boggs of Somerset, MI; son - Michael Arthur Starr of Whitmore Lake, MI; step-daughter - Lorrie Paxton of Grass Lake, MI; step-son - Chad Paxton of Fort Worth, TX; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; sister - Jeanette Sommer of Charlotte, MI; 2 brothers - Jerry (Fern) Starr of Charlotte, MI and David Starr of Charlotte, MI.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter T. Starr and sister, Laurel Marie Pray, mother, Marcella Alvina Starr, father, Wilbur Theodore Starr, and nephew, Shawn David Starr.
A Rosary was prayed at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home in Hamburg MI. A funeral mass was celebrated on Monday, March 18, 2013 at the St. Mary Catholic Church, Charlotte, MI with Rev. Fr. Francis Mossholder officiating.
