Edmund "Ziggy" Dobrowski Sr., 85, of Syracuse, passed away Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Clinton, MA, he resided in Syracuse most of his life. Edmund retired from Crucible Steel after 38 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and a former member of the Elk and Moose Lodge. An avid outdoorsman, Ziggy loved to hunt and fish and was an excellent bowler. A veteran of the United States Army, he served his country during WWII. He was predeceased by his brothers, Stanley and Walter. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Florence Recuparo Dobrowski; son, Edmund (Colleen) Dobrowski of Rochester, NY; daughter, Sandra (Anthony) Mastrobattisto of Liverpool; sisters, Wanda (James) Boutin and Genevieve "Jenny" Emmi, both of Liverpool; four beloved grandchildren, Andrew (Allison) Dobrowski, Jason Dobrowski, Emily and Joseph Mastrobattisto; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse. A private funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the of Central New York, Inc., 731 James Street, Suite 200, Syracuse, NY 13203.
