Mrs. Evelyn Elizabeth Tucker Youmans, 80, of Old Salkehatchie Rd in Yemassee died early Wednesday morning March 13, 2013 at the Colleton Regional Medical Center in Walterboro, SC. She was the wife of the late James Bratton Youmans, Sr.

Born April 30, 1932 in Charleston, SC she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Andrew Tucker and Mattie Gleaton Tucker. Mrs. Youmans was a homemaker and a member of the Yemassee Baptist Church. She was active with the senior citizens group in Yemassee.

Survivors include one son: James Bratton Youmans, Jr. and wife Annette of Yemassee, three daughters: Linda Yvonne Hughes of Yemassee, Shirley Elizabeth Youmans of Walterboro, and Doris Ann Murdaugh and husband Hemmie of Early Branch, SC, two brothers: Barry and Kenny Tucker, three sisters: Jacky Baxley, Ernestine Monteson, and Gail McDowell and special friend Stroman Russell. There are eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday March 15, 2013 at 2 P.M. in the Yemassee Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Ralph Warren and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Zahler Cemetery near Yemassee.

Friends may call at the funeral home located at 300 Mulberry St. West, Hampton, SC 29924 (803-943-3352) on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 P.M. The casket will be placed in the church at 1 P.M. prior to the service.
