Funeral services for Elsie Marie Murphy Kelley will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverends Francis LaRocque and Wallace Primeaux, Jr. will honor the family by officiating. A resident of the Lacassine Community since Hurricane Rita, a Cameronite at heart always. She will be buried in Kelley Cemetery in Cameron. Visitation Monday will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.

Mrs. Kelley conceded to leave this home of eight-five years following a four year battle with a blood disease. She was a warrior to the end, pleasant in pain with very few complaints.

Mrs. Kelley was born February 14, 1928 to Arthur and Violet Bonsall Murphy and entered eternity, greeted by a host of family and friends, March 10, 2013. She was born and raised in the Cameron Community, attended school in Cameron, the old Creole High School and Business College in Lake Charles. Mrs. Kelley married her high school sweetheart, George W. Kelley, June 14, 1947. They enjoyed nearly sixty-six years of life together, with trials and triumphs, pleasure and pain shared together as a loving institute of Marriage, honed by the scriptures through years of devotion to them and one another. Mrs. Kelley occupied her grandma (Nannie) years by being the anchor of helping (along with Aunt Sue) to rear both of her grandchildren. She was a moral compass, both a loving and stern guide for them. She was always eager to have them while their parents worked.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her sweetheart, husband, guardian and caregiver, George W. Kelley; daughter and constant friend, Evelyn Kelley, of Lacassine; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Mona Kelley of Cameron; granddaughter, Kayla K. Lambert and husband Lyle of Metairie and grandson, Daniel Lee Kelley of Lake Charles.

She was preceded in death by one son, Chester Lee Kelley; an infant son at birth; parents; three brothers, Douglas N. Murphy, Charles L. " Tince" Murphy and Alvin I. Murphy and one sister, Ruby Murphy Miller.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Doctor's, staff and loving 4th floor nurses of Christus St. Patricks Hospital, Dr. Bride, Dr. Sanders, Dr. Cherrien, Dr. Goolsby and the A.T.C. staff for their excellence in care and compassion.
