Marie Lydia Abeyta was born on June 9th, 1938. During her 74 years, she was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Marie was know to most as Cookie, she lit up the room with her smile and cared deeply for the people in her life. She come to be known as Cookie shortly after her birth. The story goes that when her father looked ar her for the first time, he thought she was so cute and so sweet- he would call her "Cookie". The name stuck.

She lives on in her four children - 2 sons and 2 daughters. Cookie is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, plus her 3 brothers and 3 sister-in-laws. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Cookie joyfully embraced the Lord and lived her life in prayer and service. She was an active member of her church—being generous with her music, educating children in the bible, and being a devout Christian.

Those who loved and knew Cookie were inspired by her love of music. Many family members and close friends became musicians as a result of her song—growing up hearing her sing at family gatherings—while her brothers accompanied her on their guitars.

After losing her beloved husband, Gilbert, Cookie lived with her youngest daughter. Marie Lydia Abeyta left this life to live with her Lord on March 4, 2013. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
