Harlan DeVon (Mert) Taylor, 36, was killed instantly at 3:15 AM Sunday [Aug. 8, 1965] when his truck rolled onto him on Indiana 43, three miles south of Lafayette. State police said that Mr. Taylor was killed when he was thrown through the windshield of his panel truck and the vehicle rolled over him.

Mr. Taylor, a lifetime resident of Lafayette, attended Klondike High School and was a baker for the Kyger Pie Co. In 1961, he was married to Kay Schley at Delphi, and she survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Carla Joanne; a stepdaughter, Darlene Schley; his parents, Mr.and Mrs. Earl Taylor of Rt. 7, Lafayette; a brother, Walter M. Taylor of Rt. 10, Lafayette; three sisters, Mrs. John Edington of Lansing, IL, Mrs. James Fetterling of Lafayette, and Miss LaTreva Taylor of Rt. 7, Lafayette; also eleven nieces and nephews.
