CHURCHILL,Sgt. WILLIAM T.—Age, 21 years. Enlisted, September 20, 1861, at Oswego, to serve three years; mustered in as corporal, Co. D, 81st Infantry Regiment, September 23, 1861; wounded in action, June 3, 1864, at Cold Harbor, Va.; promoted first sergeant, March 1, 1865; mustered out, May 15, 1865, at Richmond, Va.

Married Sarah (1st) - then Ellen Benson (2nd)

Published in the Oswego Daily Palladium, Saturday, May 10, 1913:

William T. Churchill died at his home in the town of Scriba at two o'clock this morning, aged seventy-two years.

Mr. Churchill was one of the first to enlist in the Eighty-first, the second Oswego regiment, which was organized in September, 1861, and served three years with honor and distinction, winning promotion for bravery in action at Cold Harbor, Va., June 8, 1864, where he was severely wounded.

Mr. Churchill was an active and influential member of the Grand Army of the Republic, having served several terms as Commander of Porter Post, of Scriba. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Effie Bundy, of Minetto, and Mrs. Theada Hannibal, of Lansing; three sons, Leonard of Syracuse, Frank B. of Lansing, and Louis of Oswego; two brothers, J . B. Churchill, of Schenectady, and Carmi Churchill, of Cicero; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Moulton, of Cicero.

Funeral services will be held at his home, four miles East of the city on the Hall road, at twelve o'clock noon on Monday, the 12th, and at the Page Chapel at Riverside cemetery at one o'clock.
