Mrs. Edna Wehling Dean, 62, of 216 West Union St. died Wednesday at St. Joseph hospital, Highland, where she had been a patient 14 days.
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Penelton, she was born Sept. 23, 1897 in Edwardsville. Her husband, Jesse Dean, and her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Sgt. Willard Dean, who is stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany; two daughters, Mrs. Gwendolyn Washington and Mrs. Dora Greene, Edwardsville; one brother and six sisters, Gabriel Penelton, Mrs. Fannie M. Ward, Mrs. Willa Mae Comer, Mrs. Dymple Mitchell, Mrs. Dora Scott and Mrs. Mildred Ward, all of Edwardsville, and Mrs. Flavia Weatherspoon, Zionsville, O. Four grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Dean was a member of Mt. Joy Baptist church.
[Final rites will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 from the Mt. Joy Baptist church, the Rev. Ephriam Thomas officiating.
Friends may call at the Schneider funeral home after 12 noon Saturday until 1 p.m. Sunday.
Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clement, William, Anthony and Harry Penelton, Sr., David Monroe and Eugene Ward.
