CARMEN M. KERWIN
Carmen M. Kerwin of 1 Bellavista Drive, passed away at the Oak Hill Nursing Home on Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at the age of 92.
Born in Liberty Nebraska on November 8, 1910, Carmen was the daughter of Wilfred and Ruby Sharp Mount.
Following graduation from the Trumansburg High School in 1928 she attended Mrs. Williams' Private Business School in Ithaca. Upon completion of her studies, Carmen accepted the position of secretary for Professor Dean Hill in the Physical Education Department at Ithaca College.
In 1940 she married Joe Kerwin and the couple enjoyed many years of playing golf together and boating on the lake. They were members of the Yacht Club where Carmen was active in the auxiliary. Joe passed away in 1963.
Carmen continued to work at Ithaca College and retired after 40 years of service while holding the position of Associate Director in charge of the Department of Budget and Placement of Graduates.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Marjorie (Karl) Klein of Ithaca and Reva (Ashleigh) Haight of Trumansburg, 4 nephews and 2 nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Longview Auditorium, 1 Bellavista Drive in Ithaca on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at 11:30 am with the Rev. Pete Hood officiating.
In keeping with Carmen's wishes, no public calling hours have been scheduled.
The family has entrusted arrangements to the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg.
