"Del" Davis was born June 24, 1910, to Adelbert John Davis and Pearl Iantha Davis in Portland. He was a graduate of Washington High School, the United States Naval Academy and served as an officer during World War II. He was a successful businessman in Portland for many years with a home in Lake Oswego, where he raised his family. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Southern California where they lived for more than 27 years. They returned to Portland in 2000.
Del is survived by five children, Nancy Phillips of Vernonia and her husband, Jack; Adelbert John Davis III of Falls City and his wife, Elaine; Tom Davis of Mission Viejo, Calif., and his wife, Val; Mary Lou Earley of Taylors, S.C., and her husband, Chuck; and Roy Davis of Portland and his wife, Melinda. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He will be interred at Riverview Mausoleum in Portland. The family honored him at a celebration of his life on June 27, 2009, at the home of Roy Davis.
