Arthur was living in Kiowa Co., OK when he entered the service on Sept. 13, 1950.

He was a member of the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division and was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on March 10, 1951. He returned to duty on April 19, 1951 and was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea later that day.

Private Steele was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
