Of the 12 known children born to Francis McCorkle, Jr. and Elizabeth Maria Abernathy, 4 have not been linked to them because their resting places are not certain. The two who died as children are probably interred here with their parents but this is not certain.

The 4 whose burials are unknown are:

1) John J. McCorkle (1816-1895) - died in Marengo County, Al., where he had lived for years. I think he is buried in the McKinley Cemetery, McKinley, Al., along with his wife, Elizabeth McLeod McCorkle, but I cannot find a headstone for either one of them. Their children were William Butler McCorkle (1849-1926), Elizabeth Brandon McCorkle Coates (1851-1927), Frances Margaret McCorkle Pope (1855-1932), Sarah Kathryn McCorkle Coates (1857-1942), Francis Neil McCorkle (my Great grandfather) (1859-1929), and John Alexander McCorkle (1868-1951).

2) Susannah McCorkle (1819-1823)

3) Charity Ann McCorkle Alexander (1821-1906), wife of Robert Jackson Alexander, last home Union County, Miss.

4) Franklin McCorkle (1827-1828)
