Capt. Goldsmith Walker was born March 29, 1842 in Tippah County, Mississippi the son of John Walker and Jane Burges/Burgess. Goldsmith served in the 2nd Texas Cavalry Company K. He died on February 4, 1920 in Comanche, Comanche County, Texas.

His first record under Co. K indicates that he enlisted on Sept. 23, 1861 at the age of 19. He enlisted for a period of 12 months. The Cavalry set a value of $60 on his horse and $20 on his equipment. His records indicate that by Nov.1, 1861 he is on detached service the Lt. McRae. He is a private at this time. In January of 1862 he is paid $39.20 by Capt. J.A. Settle for the use of his horse.

On October 31, 1862 his records indicate that he has reenlisted at Helena and his enlisting officer is Capt. Donelson. His last three records give very little information. June 30, 1863 he is on sick furlough. Another June record indicates that he is now a
Lieutenant and a record on Oct. 1864 lists him as a Captain. He died on February 4, 1920 in Comanche, Comanche County, Texas.
