Donald Whitey H. Plassman, 80, Napoleon, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at the Lutheran Home in Napoleon. He was born Sept. 21, 1926, in Napoleon Township, the son of Carl and Frieda (Riefers) Plassman. In 1952, he married Carolyn Fredrick, who survives. He was the owner/operator of Maumee Valley Vending Co., Defiance, where he served as general manager until he retired in 2002. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, where he served as an elder and school board member. He was past president of Ohio Automatic Merchandising Association and Kettering Country Club in Defiance, a member of the board of directors for Arps Dairy in Defiance and a member of Gideons International and Bert G. Taylor American Legion Post 300 of Napoleon. He served in World War II as a private first class in the U.S. Army. Also surviving are two sons, Scott (Jennifer) and Todd (Jennifer) of Napoleon; a brother, Carlton (Lucy), Defiance; two sisters, Delora Duerk of Defiance and Henrietta (Luther) Baden, Troy; and seven grandsons. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Norman and Eldor; and two sisters, Laurena Arps Bruns and Hermenia Smith. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, with Pastor Peter Marcis and Charles Kramer officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
