Funeral services for Charles Luther Elrod, 68, of Palestine are scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Wednesday in Bailey & Foster Chapel with Rev.Ray Biggerstaff and Rev. Robert Rachuig officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Elrod passed away early Monday morning in Trinity Valley Medical Center in Palestine. He was born on February 10, 1926 in Anderson County to Abraham W. Elrod and Drew Moser Elrod. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Watts Elrod in 1991. Mr. Elrod was an automobile salesman and a member of Lone Pine Baptist Church. He had previously owned and operated a nursing home in Palestine and was former Music Director of North Jackson Baptist Church.

He proudly served in World War II as a Merchant Marine.

Survivors include his second wife, Linda Wilson Barland of Beaumont, three daughters, Martha Elrod of Athens, Georgia, Mary Elrod of Ogden, Utah, and Rebecca Elrod of Beaumont, three sons, Eric Elrod of San Diego, California, Tim Elrod of Woodville, and Sterling Elrod of Palestine and several grandchildren.
