Carrie was born the youngest daughter of Littleton and Mary Susan (Hagan) Hurst.

Beloved wife of William Henry McClelland. Wonderful mother and grandmother.

OBITUARY:
Funeral Services were held at Robarts Grady Chapel on July 31st for Mrs. Carrie McClelland of Nocatee, who died at Arcadia General Hospital July 28, 1964 at 2:28 p.m. Rev. Guy and Sidney Albritton Officiated.

Carrie was a member of the Baptist Church, was born April 5, 1885, in Oxford, Florida. She had been a resident of Nocatee for many years.

Survivors include her Husband William Henry McClelland of Nocatee, and her children: Walter Summerall of Arcadia: Howard Summerall of Brooksville, Clara Neece of Miami; Leroy, James and John Wesley Summerall of Fort Myers, Florida.

She was previously married to Robert Henry Summerall, (Always called by his middle name, Henry), for 34 years until his death, and was the mother of his and her only 7 children. All together Carrie leaves 19 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

She was then married to William V. Turner until he died in 1940. I found her middle name, Mae, on marriage record in Desoto County, Florida, to William McClelland in 1941.

NOTE: Carrie's death Certificate states that she died of Pneumonia due to Emphysema, due to Myocardial Heart Muscle Disease. My grandmother Carrie still lives in our hearts, in the happiness we knew, In the dreams we shared. She was a Christian Lady and raised her children in Church. I know she is waiting for us in Heaven. I am told that she was part Indian. written by: Juanita (Summerall) Clark. Yes, I am the little blonde girl on my father's knee in the picture on the right. My sister Bertha is on left of photo with her hand on our grandmother Carrie. We were on a fishing trip in 1947.

NOTE #2: I want to give special recognition here of the ladies that are working so hard to find my grandmother Carrie's grave location. Donna McPherson & Joyce Goodman have been trying to locate the gravesite and they deserve a lot of credit for locating numerous other graves that are unmarked or covered up in Joshua Creek Cemetery.
UPDATE: On 3/27/2017 I received word from Donna that Carrie's grave location is listed in the SW Corner not far from her husband, William McClelland. Thanks to her for working so hard to mark her grave along with so many others.

GRANDMA:

It seems like Grandma's always need, A little one to hold; to kiss and love, with all their hearts, To shelter from the cold.
It gives me so much pleasure, When you sit upon my knee, To know as I grow older, You will always keep me company.

I'll tell you lots of stories; I'll sing you lullabies. And you will know I love you more. With each beautiful day that goes by.

I used to hold your mommy, And hug and kiss her, too. I love her very much, you know, The same way she loves you.

I used to wish that she could stay, My baby all her life. But God intended for my little girl; To grow up to be a mommy and wife.

And that's why He makes grandchildren- To fill the empty gap. It would be such a lonely world without you. Come- sit on Grandma's lap. by Donna M. Bussey

An Angel whispered take my hand and come with me , your work here is done. I went away to a place where there's no tears, nor sorrow only laughter and smiles, there will always be a Tomorrow. As I move amongst the clouds. I'll look down and smile upon you, while the angels sing a heavenly song.

I am not alone. All who went before are here. They awaited my return.

I know you'll grieve and wish I was still here. I am here in the memories you hold dear. Remember how much I love you and know I took your love with me. I did not wish for you to cry, nor feel sad.
My pain is gone and I am free.
