George, son of Governor William Wanton, married Abigail,daughter of Benjamin Ellery, of Newport. She was born February 24, 1698, and died May, 1726. They had five children.

1. Elizabeth, b. Nov 10,1716, who married Colonel Carey, of Bristol, RI. Elizabeth's daughter, Abigail (Carey) Ellery, married William Ellery, Governor, 23rd Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court, & signer of the Declaration of Independence.

2. Abigail, b. Aug. 31, 1718, who married, the Rev. John Burt, of Bristol, R. I., August 20, 174-.

3. Edward, b. May 20, 1722, and died young.

4. George, b. May, 1724, married Mary Hazard, April 19, 1747.

5.William, b. March, 1726.
