DERBY – Hays, Harold Leroy, was born on July 8, 1936 and died on March 6, 2013, at the age of 76. He was the youngest of two sons, and along with his brother Louis, was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas by Jack and Ethel Hays. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Yvonne Hays, his daughter Cyntha Trimmell, his son Richard Hays, and his two grandsons, Isaac and Dillon Trimmell. Harold attended East High School in Wichita, served in the US Army for two years, received degrees from Pittsburg State University and The University of Missouri at Rolla, and worked most of his career at Boeing Computer Services. Harold and his family resided in Derby, where he was active in the Optimist Club, serving as President for several years. He was a member of the Pleasantview Baptist Church in Derby. Harold was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Memorial service 11:00 AM Monday, March 11th, 2013 at Smith Mortuary, Derby. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 347 S. Laura Wichita, KS 67211.
