Lyle Erwin Vollmer was born pm April 21, 1929 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.
He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Japan as well as in Hawaii. He later graduated with honors from Milwaukee School of Engineering and was recruited as an Electrical Engineer for Hughes Aircraft in California where he worked for over 30 years before retiring to Punta Gorda, Florida.
Lyle was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and living in Port Charlotte, Charlotte County, Florida, he was 83 years old when he passed away on February 27, 2013 surrounded by his children.
He was preceded in death by his brother Gene Vollmer in March 2008 and by his ex-wife Harriet Vollmer of Orange, California on January 21, 2013. Survivors included a daughter in Orange County, California, a married son in Punta Gorda, Florida, three grandchildren, a sister-in-law, a niece and a nephew of Beloit, Wisconsin and a cousin in Racine, Wisconsin.
Funeral Services were held on March 9th at The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints in Port Charlotte, and Graveside Services with Military Honors was in Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda.
