Charlotte Turk Dean, 80, of Parker died 7:15 pm Tuesday in the Presbyterian Nursing Home in Oil City where she had been a resident for a number of months. Born March 31, 1901, she was the daughter of Henry and Anna Allison Turk. She married William C. Dean, who died in 1958. Mrs. Dean was a member of the Polk Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Women's Circle of the church and one of the first lady elders of the church. She was a member of the Parker City chapter of the Eastern Star, Duplicate Bridge Club of Parker, Venango Chapter DAR, and Northern Butler County Music Club. She and her husband founded Dean's Flower Shop in Parker in 1940 first as a hobby and later a full-time occupation. After many schools of floral arrangement, the Deans were accepted into Floral Telegraph Delivery, now known as FTD. Mrs. Dean continued operation of the shop following her husband's death until her retirement in the fall of 1979. Survivors include one sister, Elizabeth Turk of Pittsburg; one brother, J. Howard Turk of Pittsburgh; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm today at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Wayne Street, Parker. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. E.M. Goetschius, interim pastor of Parker Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Parker Presbyterian Cemetery.
