Services will be Wednesday for Eleanor Berry, an 86-year-old Lodi resident who died Friday at her son's Tracy home.
Born in Two Inlets, Minn., Mrs. Berry lived in Tracy the past few months. She had lived in Lodi since she retired from her job as an accounts payable supervisor for Raytheon Semiconductor in 1980.
She had enjoyed traveling with her husband in their trailer during retirement. Until retirement, Mrs. Berry lived in Sunnyvale, where she moved from Washington in 1950. She spent her teens living in Snohomish, Wash., where she graduated from Snohomish High School in 1936. She lived at home and took care of her family after her mother died that year. She then moved to Everett, Wash., when she married Francis Eugene Berry in 1938.
Mrs. Berry was a member of the Lodi Gem and Mineral Society, Lodi Chapter 150 of the Order of the Eastern Star, The Newcomers Club, the Widowed Persons Club and the Mah Jongg Club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making crafts and playing pinochle.
Mrs. Berry is survived by a son, Ron Berry of Tracy; a daughter, Sharon Gile of Folsom; three grandchildren, John Berry of Tracy, Scott Nieper of Rio Vista and Sherry Cook of Fair Oaks; and five great-grandchildren, Anna Grace and Josiah Detwiler, both of San Jose, and Anthony, Joshua and Rebecca Adamski, all of Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Francis Eugene Berry; brothers Esser and Victor Esser; and sisters Caroline Adams and Marina Perecz.
Wednesday's services will begin at 10 a.m. at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont Ave., in Lodi. Visitation will be observed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until the service on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service in Cherokee Memorial Park, at Highway 99 and East Harne in Lodi.
