Alice J. Smith, age 94, of Brunswick died March 7, 2005, at Hospice of the Golden Isles.

A native of Pittsburg, Kansas, she had made her home in Glynn County since 1945. Mrs. Smith was a charter member of Norwich Baptist Church.

She married Horace Smith on December 24, 1943, in Olathe, Kansas, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Richard Hoag and James Hoag.

Surviving are four daughters, Darlene Wolfe of Waynesville, Delores Griffin of North Wilkesboro, N.C., and Donna Smith and Dorothy Latham, both of Brunswick; two sons, Eugene Hoag of Topeka, Kansas, and Bob Hoag of Brunswick; a very close and dear friend, Glynn Duchesney of Brunswick; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Russ Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
