Reuben Ferguson Jones was just 19 years old when he enlisted with the "Newton Rifles" and became part of the 13th Mississippi Infantry Regiment during the War Between the States. Jones was captured during Gettysburg. He remained a prisoner of war in Fort Delaware until the war's end in 1865.
Jones and his wife later moved to Hood County and Reuben died at age 41 in 1884.
