James Madison Pruitt was born in Miller county, Missouri, December 5, 1858. Died Monday, May 12, 1924, at Bluff, Missouri. He had been staying with his nephew and family for almost a year. His brother, W.T.S. Pruitt also was staying with him. He had been in poor health for about 4 years, and had gradually grown worse this spring, was bedfast about two months. Everything was done for his aid that could be thought of, but nothing seemed to help him.
Uncle Jim joined the Methodist church early in life. He was kind hearted and always your friend. He bore his affliction very patiently until toward the last. He said he was tired of suffering and was laid to rest in the Meadows cemetery by the side of his father and mother.
