Charles Brady was one of the five survivors of the Warren Wagon Train Massacre / Battle of Salt Creek Prairie on May 18, 1872 . Born Mark Webster Dazey in 1847 to Richard and Susannah Pugh Dazey in Columbiana County Ohio, he was reared in Wayne County Illinois . Fighting with the 132nd Illinois Volunteer Infantrymen Union Forces, after the Civil War he relocated to Parker County Texas working for Henry Warren a Government Contractor . He changed his name to Charles Brady being a Yankee and possibly to hide his military service against the Confederacy . He married Mary Frances Hutchinson at Granbury Hood County Texas on 26th of August 1872 by Squire Sears a Justice of the Peace . More than 12 children were born to this marriage . Charles Brady was a Commercial Painting Contractor / Decorator and owner of the Commercial Hotel at Granbury . Charles Brady died at Granbury Hood County Texas in 1907 and is buried in the Old College Hill Cemetery along with his wife , two daughters Daisy (Mrs. Dr. A.G. Person) and Mayme
(Mrs.Harry Felder), and his mother-in-law Susa Ann (Susan) Hightower Hutchinson Millican . Susa Ann was the daughter of Ephraim Hightower and Ann Curry Hightower of Laurens County Georgia born in 1836 . Several members of the Hightowers and the Rylee and Aikens Families travelled together in a wagon train to present day Granbury and Hood County in 1855-1856 . Susa Ann was first married to James Hutchinson at Bellville Austin County Texas in February 1856 . The marriage is of record in the Austin County Clerk's Office . They had one daughter Mary Frances called "Fannie" who was born at Comanche Peak Post Office , now Acton, Hood County Texas in December 1856 . James Hutchinson was fatally wounded during the Civil War and Died at Warrenton Virginia where his remains were buried . Susa Ann remarried an Elijah or Ebenezer Millican many years her senior . Two other daughters were born Polly (married a Swain of Weatherford Texas) and Martha or "Mattie" (married a Gilstrap in Oklahoma) and a son Fred . Elijah Millican's date of birth and death are presently unknown . Mary Frances Brady died at the home of a daughter Kathleen (Mrs. John Vick)at Fort Worth Tarrant County Texas in 1936 . Her remains are interred in the Old Granbury College Hill Cemetery , Granbury Hood County Texas . The Charles Brady youngest child a daughter Vivian Thelma Brady Smith (Mrs. James Hubert Smith Sr. of Cresson Johnson County Texas) died in 1957 at Fort Worth Tarrant County Texas. Their daughter Vivia Dazey Smith was killed in an automobile accident in Fort Worth in 1937. Mother and daughter were first buried in the Charles Brady plot . Their remains were later re-interred in the Cresson Texas Cemetery in the Smith plots beside James Hubert Smith Sr., husband and father of the deceased .
