Officer Lone drowned when he fell into the Lake Union waterway while attempting to tie up to a tugboat that was drifting. At some point he fell into the water and failed to surface. Officer Lone's partner realized that he had fallen into the water and immediately suited up and dove in.
He located Officer Lone in approximately 6-feet of water and brought to the surface. CPR was performed until rescue units arrived and transported him to Harborview Medical Center. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Officer Lone had served with the Seattle Police Department for 18 years and had been assigned to the Harbor Patrol Unit for 5 years. He is survived by his wife and 18-month-old son.
