Together with Edna, he worked for a time with a missionary-based American publishing company in Pakhoi, Kwangtung, China, where he helped publish all sorts
of church related material in Chinese/English, with Edna translating fluently for these various publications.
After returning to the United States, he worked as a photo engraver, an occupation he had held before his work in China.
After Edna died, Clarence married Margaret I. Rodger.
