"Death of Hiram Bollinger, of Clay
Hiram Bollinger, a prominent and highly esteemed resident of Clay township, died at 6 o'clock on Saturday morning of dysentery, after an illness of about two weeks, aged 66 years. Deceased was a retired farmer. He was born on the old Bollinger homestead, located midway between Lincoln and Clay, where he had resided all his lifetime. He was an only son of Samuel Bollinger. Mr. Bollinger was married twice. His first wife was a daughter of the late Emanuel Shirk, of Rothsville, who died forty years ago. His second wife and surviving widow is a daughter of the late Benjamin Bollinger, of Middle Creek. Five children, the issue of the latter marriage, survive, as follows: Adam, residing on the Bollinger homestead; Phares, residing near the homestead; Mrs. Henry Huber, of near Lititz; Mrs. Jacob Bomberger, of Lititz, and Miss Amanda, residing at home. Mrs. Jonas Bucher, of near Clay, and Mrs. John B. Miller, of Lincoln, are sisters of the deceased. The funeral was held on Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock from the late residence of the deceased. Services and interment at Royer's Meeting House at MiddleCreek."

Hiram Bollinger and Barbara Bollinger, both of Clay Township, were married September 15, 1857, by Rev. J. J. Strine.
