Rudolph J. Carlson, former resident of Camas Prairie, Fenn Section, died at his home in Spokane, February 3. He was the brother of Richard Carlson and brother-in-law of Marion and E. W. Weber, all of Grangeville, who went to Spokane Tuesday to attend the services there Wednesday at the Galilean Chapel, Dodd Funeral Home in charge of a Christian Science reader, followed by cremation. Survivors include his widow, Lucy Carlson, at home; two sons, James O., Lodi, California and Weldon K. of Spokane; five daughters, Mrs. Beulah Winkler and Miss Irene Bonnie, Spokane, Mrs. Ella E. Svenningson of Tacoma, Miss May Fern of Seattle and Mrs. Vernita [Bernita] R. Poor [Porr], Portland; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Hannah Shuttera, San Francisco, and a brother, Richard E. Carlson, Grangeville.

Biography - Rudolph John Carlson was born March 11, 1879, to Carl John Carlson and Augusta Helena Fredrika Sundell Carlson. He grew up on his parent's farm south of Monett, Missouri.
Rudolph's mother, Augusta died May 6, 1897 when Rudolph was 18 years old. Rudolph's father, Carl, remarried about 1901 to Christina Lindquist. Carl sold his property in Barry County, Missouri in 1903 and moved north to Lawrence County settling in the Verona - Spring River area.
Rudolph did not care for his step-mother.
Rudolph was the first of the Carlson children to move to Idaho. Rudolph was 21 and living in Idaho County, Idaho in the Jeru Parker home when the 1900 census was taken.
In 1903 Rudolph was attending "Normal School" in Lewiston, Idaho.
On September 22, 1909, Rudolph John Carlson of Lewiston, Idaho and Lucy Weber of Denver, Idaho were married at the home of Lucy's parents, Jacob and Caroline Weber, north of Denver, Idaho. Rudolph was working at the Ninneman Hardware store in Lewiston.
When the 1910 census was taken, Rudolph and Lucy were living in Lewiston,Idaho. Two children were born while living in Lewiston: James Orville Carlson, September 10, 1910 and Beulah Carlson, August 8, 1912.
Shortly after Beulah was born, the family moved to Lucy's parent's farm near Denver and Fenn,Idaho. Lucy's parents had moved to Carlifornia, and sold their farm to Rudolph and Lucy. Three more children were born while living on the Weber farm: Weldon "Kenneth" Carlson, June 27, 1914; Ella Esther Carlson, July 1, 1916 and May "Fern" Carlson July 15, 1918.
In 1919, Rudolph and Lucy bought a farm between Cottowood and Ferdinand, Idaho. Two more children were born while living there: Bernita Ruth Carlson January 8, 1922 and Irene "Bonnie" Carlson April 18, 1924.
In January 1938, the Rudolph Carlson family moved to Spokane, Washington. Lucy took in boarders to help make ends meet. She also did janitoral work in office buildings. Rudolph worked as a fireman at Geiger Field.
Rudolph Carlson died February 3, 1946 at his home in Spokane, Washington. He was cremated and his ashes were placed at Greenwood Cemetery in Spokane. Lucy (Weber) Carlson died March 23, 1952 at Spokane. Her remains are also at Greenwood Cemetery in Spokane.
