Obituary
Mr. Adam R. Smeltzer, aged 78 years, died at the home of his son, C. C. Smeltzer, this city, last Saturday morning, of paralysis, caused by a fall three years ago. He was a member of the C. [Cumberland] Presbyterian Church and was a good Christian man. He leaves a wife and eight children and many friends to mourn his death. The funeral took place Sunday, and the remains were buried at Shiloh Church. Mr. Smeltzer suffered a great deal during his illness, although his wife and children, together with the best medical skills, did all they could to allay his pain. He is now at rest, free from pain and suffering, and as he lived an honorable and upright life, there is no doubt that he has found eternal rest and happiness on the other shore. The MERCURY extends sympathy to the bereaved ones.
