Betty J. Franklin-Hogan, 79, of East Stroudsburg, passed away Friday, May 9, at the Slate Belt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bangor. She was the wife of the late Irvin P. Williard and the late John Hogan.

Born May 17, 1928, in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late George B. and Mary VanWhy (Williams). She was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a housekeeper at Fernwood Resort for more than 20 years; she also worked at Birchwood resort.

She was a kind and loving person who took care of anyone and everyone; her home was always open. She was also an avid bingo player.

Betty is survived by her nine children, Toni Frisbie of Reeders, Arvet Williams of Northampton, Aubrey Franklin and his wife, Janice, of East Stroudsburg, Lora Detrick of East Stroudsburg, James Franklin of East Stroudsburg, Robert Franklin and his wife, Sue, of Wooddale, Bridgette Franklin of Wilkes-Barre, Ron Franklin of East Stroudsburg and Sherry Franklin and her husband, Jim, of East Stroudsburg; 19 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Sylvia Johnson of Marshalls Creek and Frieda Wildrick of Easton; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was predeceased by her two brothers, Oscar and Simon Williams; and her two sisters, Florence Smith and Pauline McCarthy.
